Member Directory

The following types of membership are recognized by ATHEA: Institutional Members, Candidate for Accreditation members and Accredited members. See members per category down below.

Accredited Members

Accreditation Members have successfully completed a self-evaluation, passed a site evaluation, and been accepted into accreditation status by the Board of Commissioners. The ATHEA Accredited Institutions have legal authorization to operate as an educational institution in their jurisdiction, have students in an academic programme, been in existence for at least 3 years, and offer and teach at least one of their own institution’s programmes. In addition, they must have at least 2 cycles of graduates (students that start and finish the programme) from their institution.

Institutional Members

Institutional Membership is the entry into the ATHEA accreditation process and the starting point for all members who are on a path towards accreditation. The institution must have legal authorization to operate as an educational institution, have students in an academic programme, be in existence for at least 1 year, and offer and teach at least one of their own institution’s programmes.

Affiliate Members

An Affiliated Membership is reserved for institutions and corporations that are associated with higher education wish to learn, be informed, and potentially receive assistance from ATHEA relative to quality improvement in higher education. Affiliated Institutions are not necessarily on an immediate path for accreditation, rather perhaps at a later time the Affiliated Institution’s institution will be ready to embark on obtaining ATHEA. Affiliated Institutions may also be corporations who would like to sponsor and support the activities of ATHEA.

Important Note: Affiliated Members are not reviewed by ATHEA. Being listed as an Affiliate Member does not imply an endorsement or validation of the Affiliate Member, rather it is a demonstration of the Affiliate Member’s support of ATHEA and ATHEA’s mission.
