ATHEA is pleased to welcome Gaga Gvenetadze to the Board of Commissioners

Gaga Gvenetadze is a PhD candidate in Applied Social Psychology at Tbilisi State University, specializing in higher education governance and quality assurance. With MA degrees in Education Administration and Global Governance, he has extensive experience across various European educational frameworks.Gaga’s professional background includes serving on the Georgian Authorization Council of Higher Education Institutions and acting as a Quality Assurance Coordinator at the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement (NCEQE). He currently serves as a Steering Committee member of the European Students’ Union (ESU), an Advisory Board member for the National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes (ANVUR) in Italy, and a Board member for the Icelandic Agency for Quality Assurance (IAQA)

Gaga’s experience within ESU and broader European quality assurance initiatives brings an important student-centered perspective to the Board of Commissioners. His appointment reflects ATHEA’s continued commitment to stakeholder engagement and alignment with European quality assurance principles and values.

ATHEA recognizes the central role students play in higher education governance and quality assurance, as emphasized in the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG). Student participation is fundamental to ensuring transparency, accountability, relevance, and continuous institutional improvement. Their perspectives strengthen quality assurance processes by providing direct insight into learning experiences, student support, accessibility, and the evolving needs of learners in transnational education.
