Polytechnic College of Uvurkhangai Province, Mongolia, Receives ATHEA Institutional Accreditation

ATHEA is pleased to announce that the Polytechnic College of Uvurkhangai Province (UVPC) in Mongolia has been granted ATHEA Institutional Accreditation.
The accreditation took effect on 4 August 2026 and has been awarded for a five-year term, until 4 August 2031. The decision applies to UVPC’s post-secondary provision and was made under the joint institutional accreditation procedure of ATHEA and the Mongolian National Council for Education Accreditation (MNCEA).
The ATHEA Board of Commissioners determined that UVPC complies with the ATHEA Accreditation Standards. The decision includes seven commendations and twelve recommendations, with no Action Required, reflecting the Board’s conclusion that no area of non-compliance was identified.
Established in 1974 and located in Arvaikheer, Uvurkhangai Province, UVPC is a public technical and vocational education and training institution operating under Mongolia’s Ministry of Education. Over more than five decades, the college has trained more than 25,000 skilled professionals and has made a significant contribution to Mongolia’s regional workforce and socioeconomic development.
Among the areas recognised by the Board of Commissioners were UVPC’s:
- Comprehensive and operational quality-assurance system;
- Nationally significant competency-based curriculum design;
- Integrated information-management system and parent-facing mobile application;
- Strong commitment to student welfare, inclusion and equity;
- Structured recruitment, induction and professional development of teaching staff;
- Methodologist system for evaluating and improving teaching quality; and
- Widely applied system for credit transfer and recognition of prior learning.
The accreditation followed an extensive self-evaluation and a joint ATHEA–MNCEA site visit conducted on 11 and 12 May 2026. The expert panel met with institutional leaders, teaching and administrative staff, students, alumni, employers and industry partners, while also reviewing the college’s facilities, systems, policies and supporting documentation.
