Gaga Gvenetadze brings valuable expertise in higher education quality assurance, student engagement, and European higher education policy. Through his work with the European Students’ Union (ESU), the official representative organization of students in Europe, he has actively contributed to initiatives promoting student participation, quality enhancement, and inclusive governance across the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
Gaga’s experience within ESU and broader European quality assurance initiatives brings an important student-centered perspective to the Board of Commissioners. His appointment reflects ATHEA’s continued commitment to stakeholder engagement and alignment with European quality assurance principles and values.
ATHEA recognizes the central role students play in higher education governance and quality assurance, as emphasized in the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG). Student participation is fundamental to ensuring transparency, accountability, relevance, and continuous institutional improvement. Their perspectives strengthen quality assurance processes by providing direct insight into learning experiences, student support, accessibility, and the evolving needs of learners in transnational education.
The work of ESU has been instrumental in advancing student-centered learning and embedding meaningful stakeholder engagement within European higher education systems. ATHEA highly values collaboration with organizations such as ESU that contribute to strengthening quality cultures, fostering inclusive dialogue, and supporting innovation in higher education.
ATHEA looks forward to the contribution Gaga Gvenetadze will make in advancing quality assurance and student partnership within transnational higher education.
